Items will be on view the Tuesday before the sale 9.30am – 3.30pm and on the morning of the sale.
Bidding on site – Live Auctions
To bid at auction you will need a paddle number. This can be obtained from the office either during the view or on the day of the sale. You can buy on multiple accounts but this must be organised prior to bidding. Paddle numbers are for one auction only and cannot be carried over until the next sale. Under no circumstances can any alterations be made to the bidding after the fall of the hammer.

If you are unable to attend the live auction you can leave a commission bid. The auctioneer or porter who will purchase the lot as cheaply as possible, taking in to account any reserve price and other bids, will execute bidding on your instructions. All commissions must be received by us no later than 4:30pm on the Tuesday before the sale. Any commissions received after this time are not guaranteed to be placed or to be accurate.

Again if you are unable to attend the live auction you can request a telephone bid. For telephone bids the minimum bid must be £100.00 and on a first come first booked service.
We are currently holding 1 auction per month on i-Bidder. This enables you to sit in the comfort of your own home, on the telephone or anywhere there is Internet access to bid on our auctions. Please note there is an additional 5% + VAT for bidding on i-Bidder. A deposit of £100.00 is payable when registering on i-bidder please see Important Information for further details. Deposits cannot be used as payment/part payment of invoice and are refunded in full once all items have been collected from our premises either in person or by courier.
We do not offer condition reports but extra photographs can be request up to 4:00pm on the Tuesday prior to a live auction or up to 12noon on the day of a timed auction. All weights and measures given in the catalogue should be regarded as approximate and only our opinion – see Conditions of Sale.
Each lot is subject to a buyer’s premium of 17% + VAT at the current rate, no exceptions. There is an additional charge of 5% + VAT on all i-Bidder auctions (22% + VAT).
Payment and Clearance
We will only accept payment and clearance from the registered parties. We will accept cash, debit or credit card payments. All card payments must be in person only as we cannot take these types of payments over the telephone. Cheque payments will be at the discretion of the auctioneers and must be cleared prior to the start of the sale. In the case of i-Bidder payments our bank details are on the bottom of the invoice. All payments must be received in full no later than 12noon on the Thursday following the sale. A late payment fee of £25.00 + VAT may be applied. Failure to pay will result in you being permanently and publicly banned from all of our future auctions. We do offer a packing service, on request once payment has been made in full, but can only package and label items for dispatch to the purchaser. Where practical, payment can be made and purchases collected during the live auction. All items must be collected via a porter
At the fall of the hammer the item is no longer the responsibility of City Auctioneering Limited so it is recommended you gain insurance cover on valuable items prior to the sale.
Lots marked with V in front of the lot number are subject to Vat, at the relevant rate at the time, on the hammer price. Lots marked without a V are not subject to VAT on the hammer price.
